On April 13th, the 8th graders at the JCMS, attended a Kentucky Humanities Council Inc. Program. The Kentucky Chautauqua performer was Jim Sayre representing the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. He discussed the life and death of the former Kentucky native, as well as, the importance of Kentucky in the Civil War. Students also participated in the assembly program as Mary Todd Lincoln and Abe Lincoln, himself. President Lincoln was introduced by the Kentucky Humanities Council Executive Producer, Ben Chandler. The program was funded by Rodney Chrisman with the Jackson Energy Cooperative. The 8th grade students are currently learning about the importance and effects of the Civil War in their History classes.
