Jackson County Public School District Exceeds AMO Goal on State Assessment

The Jackson County Public School District’s overall score on the state assessment Unbridled Learning: College and Career-Readiness for All is 59. The district overall score increased 5.5 points from last year and exceeded the 54.5 Annual Measurable Objective Goal (AMO) for 2014.  All 5 schools exceeded their 2014 AMO Goals.  The district score is based on two components: Next Generation Learners and Program Reviews.  Next Generation Learners includes 5 areas: achievement, gap, growth, college and career readiness, and graduation rate.  There are three Program Review areas: Arts and Humanities, Practical Living and Career Studies, and Writing. The district also exceeded the 2014 College and Career Readiness Target of 50.2%. The percent of Jackson County High School graduates who are college and/or career ready increased from 45.5% in 2013 to 54.1% in 2014. The 2014 Five Year Adjusted Cohort Graduation Rate is 90.1%.
 

Kentucky Artisan Visits the Tigers!

Alfredo Escobar visited 4th and 5th grade students in September to expose them to his mural art and to assist them in creating their own class mural.  Each class mural is displayed in the school hallway. 

Sand Gap Elementary wants to thank the Kentucky Arts Council and Promise Neighborhoods for funding this art experience!

Year Books are Here!


2013-1014 Year Books have arrived and should come home with students whose parents have ordered them.  If you did not order last year's year book, there are a few available.  The cost is $25.00.  Contact Tracy VanWinkle if interested.
