Tyner Elementary SCHOOL RECEIVES $5,000 GRANT

Lowe’s Donates Money For “Cardinal Corner:  Where Healthy Choices are Made”

Tyner Elementary has received a $5,000 Lowe’s Toolbox for Education grant for “Cardinal Corner:  Where Healthy Choices are Made”

We are thrilled to announce that Lowe’s has awarded Tyner Elementary School  funding for the project, “Cardinal Corner:  Where Healthy Choices are Made”. Our grant application was based on the goal of improving the health and wellness of our students and staff.   We look forward to sharing the future project with the Tyner community as well. This project will provide more opportunities for students and staff to participate in additional minutes of physical activity as well create additional learning opportunities about growing healthy foods.

The project will begin in September by preparing the soil/ground for a school garden.  The students will raise pumpkins as a pilot project.  There will also be funds available to purchase additional sports equipment such as footballs, soccer balls and goals.

“Our school and community will greatly benefit from this grant. We wish to thank our friends at Lowe’s for generously supporting this important project,” said Mr. Johnson, Principal at Tyner Elementary.

All K-12 public schools in the United States are eligible for the Toolbox for Education program.  More information is available at www.ToolboxforEducation.com.
