Pumpkin Book Character Contest

Our ANNUAL PUMPKIN BOOK CHARACTER Contest has begun! Students have been inspired to create a book character pumpkin and turn it in to the library from October 27th until October 31st. Mrs. Huff, our librarian, has given out the rules for our contest to all students. Please see our photo gallery page for examples of previous entries!

Jackson County Public School District Exceeds AMO Goal on State Assessment

The Jackson County Public School District’s overall score on the state assessment Unbridled Learning: College and Career-Readiness for All is 59. The district overall score increased 5.5 points from last year and exceeded the 54.5 Annual Measurable Objective Goal (AMO) for 2014.  All 5 schools exceeded their 2014 AMO Goals.  The district score is based on two components: Next Generation Learners and Program Reviews.  Next Generation Learners includes 5 areas: achievement, gap, growth, college and career readiness, and graduation rate.  There are three Program Review areas: Arts and Humanities, Practical Living and Career Studies, and Writing. The district also exceeded the 2014 College and Career Readiness Target of 50.2%. The percent of Jackson County High School graduates who are college and/or career ready increased from 45.5% in 2013 to 54.1% in 2014. The 2014 Five Year Adjusted Cohort Graduation Rate is 90.1%.

Our goal for Tyner Elementary is $1,000.00  in Box Tops this year.
