Save The Children received an Innovative Approaches to Literacy (IAL) Grant. As part of the Jackson County Public School’s partnership with Save the Children, our school system will receive monies that can be used to increase school libraries’ technology resources with books, iPads, and e-books.
- All three of the elementary schools have received a $10,000 package of library resources (books and technology).
- In February, each school library received 15 iPads each (45 total). They are currently placing orders for additional library books (approximately $2,000 for each library).
- We anticipate an additional $10,000 per school next year.
The attached picture above is from a meeting earlier today concerning the IAL Grant. Participants in the meeting were: Brian Thomas, Travis Estridge (STC Community Literacy Manager), Mike Smith and Tracie Hays (STC Program Specialist).
