Jackson County Public Schools submitted an application to the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) to implement the Non-Traditional Instructional Day (NTID) during the 2015-16 school year. In order to assist with the application process, our NTID Committee conducted surveys, contacted districts that had successfully implemented the NTID and attended several trainings sponsored by the Kentucky Department of Education and others. Our final application was reviewed by our NTID Committee and presented to the Jackson County Board of Education at the April 21st Regular Meeting. The NTID application was approved by the Jackson County Board of Education.
We were notified on Thursday that our application was not approved for the 2015-16 school year. The applications were reviewed based on a scoring guide, and we have received feedback from KDE on how to improve our application for the 2016-17 school year. We feel that based on this feedback, we will be able to submit an application that will be approved for the 2016-17 school year.
